Extracurricular Enrichment - Spring 2024 Session 6

Registration Closed 

  • Space is limited as indicated below. 
  • Classes will be offered to students in kindergarten through third grade. 
  • Registration open on Tuesday, April 16 at 8pm. 
  • Registration is optimal on a laptop web browser or the Membership Toolkit app.
  • Registration will be available through the PTO website only. Spots will be available on a first come, first served basis, and spots may go quickly! Please be sure your account is set up before the registration window opens.
  • There will not be a waitlist this session.
  • There will be no school nurse on duty during the classes and the teachers will not have access to the medications stored in the nurse's office.
  • Each student may enroll in a maximum of one class.

  • All payments will be made to the PTO via credit card at time of registration, Venmo (@Ryerson_PTO), or check made out to Ryerson PTO. Please write your student's name and "Extracurricular Session 6" in the memo.

  • If your child registers for an afternoon class, we ask that a designated adult arrive promptly at 4:30pm for dismissal. That adult should bring ID to verify student safety at pickup time. 

 

Pam's Picassos

Tuesday 3:30-4:30pm (4/30, 5/14, 5/21, 5/28)

Join Pam Halligan of Pam's Picasso's for this exciting spring-themed painting class. Learn new techniques to create acrylic paintings using sponges and brushes! Create a special bouquet of flowers to celebrate a special Mom in your life too!

CHESS

Thursdays 8:00-8:45am (5/2, 5/9, 5/16, 5/23)

Grades K-3

 

We are offering a Chess class for kids K-3, taught by Dr. Ani Deshpande.  No knowledge of Chess is required. Dr. Deshpande is a United States Chess Federation Certified Chess Coach and a two-time Wisconsin State Chess Champion. 

 

There are a lot of benefits for children who play chess including increased IQ scores, improved problem solving skills, ability to make difficult and strategic decisions independently and a fostering of critical and creative thinking.  

 

Chess boards will be provided. Please walk your child into the MPR to sign in at each class.

LEGO S.T.E.A.M. WORKS WITH EYES4LEARNING

Thursdays 3:30-4:30pm (5/2, 5/9, 5/16, 5/23)

S.T.E.A.M. Works Using LEGO®, children will work with standard LEGO® materials to problem-solve pre-engineering challenges involving structure, levers, gears, pulleys, and other elements of simple machines. Each class build will be introduced with a different story to start the lesson. Projects may include wall rocket racers, battle top spinners, and flywheel cruisers!

Cool-ology

Cool-ology® offers hands-on, inquiry-based STEM/STEAM* activities that get children really excited about science, engineering, and the world around them. Participants engage in empathetic problem-solving, creative design, and critical thinking skills to deepen their understanding of core science and engineering principles - all while having fun!

LEARNIN' STUFF

Mondays 3:30-4:30pm (4/29, 5/6, 5/13, 5/20)

Grades K-3

 

This class is led by Learnin' Stuff - CT. Students will enjoy fun and exciting lessons focused on holidays, seasons, nature and animals. Students will choose four high-quality 16" plush animals to stuff and take home. Over 70 animals to choose from! Parents will be invited on the last day to tour their student's creations from the session. 

 

Class section size will be limited to 20 students in grades K-3. Cost is $85 per student for the 4-week session. Please note the class dates above.

 

The instructor has asked for us to provide extra helpers at each class in order to help the students with creating their stuffed animals. If you are interested in helping at one of the classes, please sign up at our Learnin' Stuff Volunteering Form.

TAYLOR SWIFT DANCE PARTY - FULL

Unleash your inner Swiftie in this fun and energetic dance class! Each week will be a different era, from Fearless to TTPD. Grab a friend and come shake it off with us!

 

Class section size will be limited to 16 students in grades K-3. Cost is $70 per student for the 4-week session. Please note the class dates above. Students will be required to wear sneakers or dance shoes to participate.
